A Structured Saturday
From registration at 7:45 am to collection at 6:00 pm — every session is timed around the Antigua climate, with football in the cooler hours and chess during the warmest part of the day.
Registration and Welcome
7:45 am – 8:00 amCollection and registration points: Island Academy Football Field or Island Academy Reception Area. Parents should follow the weekly confirmation message stating which collection point is being used.
Morning Football Technical Training
8:00 am – 9:15 amUnder 11
Ball mastery, dribbling, passing, movement, coordination and confidence.
Over 11
Technical development, tactical decision-making, positioning, pressing, possession and game intelligence.
Hydration, Fruit and Refreshment Break
9:15 am – 9:30 amStudents receive water, fruit or another approved healthy refreshment.
Morning Football Games and Tactical Development
9:30 am – 10:45 amUnder 11
Small-sided games, enjoyment, confidence, teamwork and age-appropriate competition.
Over 11
Tactical coaching, match scenarios, coached games and competitive development.
Football-to-Chess Changeover
10:45 am – 11:00 amHydration, toilets, hand washing, change of footwear or clothing when required, movement from the football field to the chess room, attendance check and safe equipment storage. Students attending morning football only may be collected at the Island Academy Football Field or Island Academy Reception Area. Exact collection point will be confirmed to parents.
Elite Chess Coaching: First Session
11:00 am – 12:00 pmStudents are divided according to experience and playing level: Foundation Chess, Developing Players, Advanced Players and Elite Performance Group. Training includes tactical patterns, calculation, board vision, attacking play, defence, opening principles and strategic planning.
Supervised Lunch and Refreshments
12:00 pm – 1:00 pmStudents bring an approved packed lunch unless the school later provides a catering option. Water access, healthy refreshments, supervised eating area, hand washing, indoor recovery time and quiet recreational activities. All allergies and dietary requirements must be declared during registration.
Elite Chess Coaching: Second Session
1:00 pm – 2:00 pmTournament games, game analysis, endgame training, decision-making, time management, individual feedback and internal academy ladder games.
Chess Challenge Session
2:00 pm – 2:30 pmRotates weekly between puzzle competition, simultaneous exhibition, rapid chess tournament, team chess, Challenge the Coach, opening challenge and endgame challenge. Students attending chess only may be collected at 2:30 pm from the Island Academy Reception Area.
Indoor Recovery and Afternoon Football Preparation
2:30 pm – 3:15 pmHydration, toilets, quiet games, supervised rest, sun protection check, change into football clothing, equipment preparation and attendance check.
Afternoon Football Registration and Hydration
3:15 pm – 3:30 pmStudents attending afternoon football only arrive during this period. Arrival point: Island Academy Football Field or Island Academy Reception Area. The weekly message will confirm the correct arrival point.
Afternoon Football Development
3:30 pm – 4:45 pmUnder 11
Skills challenges, movement, coordination, fun competition and coached small-sided games.
Over 11
Tactical development, match preparation, team roles, transitions and competitive training.
Football Matches, Mini Leagues and Team Challenges
4:45 pm – 5:45 pmUnder 11
Small-sided matches and skills festivals.
Over 11
Competitive coached matches, tactical challenges and team competitions.
Awards, Announcements and Parent Collection
5:45 pm – 6:00 pmPlayer of the Day, Chess Player of the Day, Most Improved Student, Teamwork Award and Respect Award. Weekly announcements and safe sign-out procedure. Final collection point: Island Academy Football Field or Island Academy Reception Area. Parents receive confirmation of the exact collection point before each academy day.
